ADAPT Protest at Alexandra Magistrate Court, Johannesburg
On February 8, 2017, I had the opportunity to sit-in the Alexandra Magistrate Courthouse in Johannesburg, and watch a trial hearing for a man who is accused of sexually assaulting and raping a 2-year-old girl, who sadly passed after being attacked. The trial hearing was ultimately postponed until mid-March. However, that did not deter protesters and Agisanang Domestic Abuse Prevention and Training (ADAPT) from demonstrating outside of the courthouse. Participants and ADAPT were demanding justice for the deceased victim and her family, and awareness on sexual abuse and violence against South African children. The photos from my coverage of the powerful protest are below.
